A group calling itself “John Mahama Fun Club (JMFC)”, has lauded the President for his role in promoting social, political and economic integration in Ghana and within the ECOWAS sub-region.
The club was congratulating President John Dramani Mahama at a durbar it organised at Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality on his election as the 2012 presidential candidate for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr Yaw Osei, Chairman of the Club, stated that JMFC was committed to ensuring that Ghanaians massively vote for John Mahama in the December 7th election, t enable him to continue pursuing the ideas of the “Better Ghana Agenda”, which was started by late Professor John Atta Mills.
Mr Osei noted that it was only a social democratic political party like the NDC that could alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians and that when the NDC government was re-elected, it would continue with its social and human-centred intervention policies.
“The JMFC is proud to be associated with a committed, honest and hard working personality like you,” he remarked.
He appealed to political parties to tolerate divergent views and ideologies as a means of bridging the political, religious and tribal differences in the country.
The Chairman appealed to Ghanaians to exercise their franchise in the 2012 general elections, by massively voting for President Mahama and all NDC parliamentarians to enable them together bring development in their lives and the society as a whole.
According to him, President Mahama in partnership with Vice President, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur would pilot the country to its rightful destination.
Mr Osei advised the youth to take advantage of opportunities that would empower them for the task of building a better Ghana, than to be branded as agents of destruction.
Mr Henry Bright Acquah, Secretary of the Club, said JMFC was committed to creating a culture of peace before, during and after the 2012 general election and also called on the citizenry to contribute their quota to the NDC government’s efforts to ensure a violent-free election.
“It is the Club’s prayer that the Electoral Commission would also do everything possible to ensure that the election is free, fair and credible,” he said.
Mr Acquah said given President John Mahama’s qualities and capabilities he is the best candidate for the presidency, saying “the President is also God-fearing and a grass-root figure with a commanding disposition.”
JMFC, established on February 20, 2009, now has a membership of 350. It has provided an effective forum for sharing and collaboration of constructive views that had helped to sustain its progress in the overall objective of rallying behind John Dramani Mahama.
He said the club was now in a proper position to mobilise funds to support petty traders in various vocational skills. He said the club organised periodic clean-up campaigns to get rid of filth in Akim Oda, adding “this has become a regular feature; all in support of the Better Ghana Agenda.”
The Financial Secretary, Mr Richard Dorgbefu, said the members of the Club were hard hit by the news of the death of former President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills.
