Principals and Accountants of Training Colleges attend workshop

Kumasi, Oct.11, GNA - Mr Charles Otoo, Financial Controller of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has stressed the need for the training of teachers who could develop schools and children properly. He said, this could be achieved through the proper development of the teacher with an effective and efficient management at the training college.

Mr Otoo made the call at a five-day workshop for Principals and Accountants of the 38 Teacher Training Colleges in the country in Kumasi at the weekend.

The workshop was organized by the Teacher Education Division of GES to update the financial management skills of Principals and Accountants.

It would in addition, afford the participants, an opportunity to discuss the management and administrative practices in the educational reforms.

Topics treated included Planning and Budgeting in the Teacher Training Colleges, Revenue Accounting and Controls, Financial and Disbursement Processes, Stores Management and Reporting Systems. Mr Stephen Adu, Deputy Director, Teacher Education Division, encouraged the participants to develop skills to manage the limited resources allocated to their colleges through effective strategic systems.

Mr B.F. Anyan, Principal of Wesley College in Kumasi said the workshop would assist them to improve on their financial control measures.
