Obuasi (Ash), Sept. 18, GNA - Mr Ernest Yaw Kwarteng, an Assistant Director of Administration at the Obuasi Municipal Assembly has called for private investment in the areas of education, health, agriculture and other sectors to promote development at the various district assemblies.

He said the doors of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly were opened for such investment, since the assembly alone could not take up the development of the area.

Mr Kwarteng, who deputised for the Municipal Chief Executive, was speaking at the official inauguration of the Christ Community School Complex, a modern private basic school, sited at Pomposo, near Obuasi. Already, the nursery and the kindergarten section with water closet toilet and bath had been completed for classes to begin. The three-storey school would have facilities like library, computer laboratory, changing room, dining hall, kitchen and others to enhance teaching and learning.

Mr Kwarteng said the school was going to offer quality training to the future leaders of the country and called for the participation of all stakeholders to make the school, one of the best in the country. Mr E. Akoto-Sarpong, the Obuasi Municipal Social Welfare Officer, advised the school authorities to manage the day care section according to the regulations governing such centres. He urged parents to assist their children to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the government to acquire quality basic education.

Mr Akoto-Sarpong gave the assurance that his office would co-operate and offer the needed support to promote the effective functioning of the day care section of the school. Mr Kofi Nti, Assistant Director of Education in-charge of Finance and Administration at the Obuasi Municipal Education Office, observed that the school was going to add to the improvement of basic education in the municipality.

The proprietor of the school, Mr George Kofi Impraim, said the aim of constructing the school was to enable the community to benefit from what he got from working in the United States. He recognised the partnership he had enjoyed from others including Rev Faith Link and Miss Lisa Hash and the Community Church of Hoboken in the USA, saying, "This partnership had made me to realise this dream".
