Progressive Horizons presents medical supplies to four institutions

Accra, Jan 8, GNA - Progressive Horizons International (PHI), a non-governmental organization, on Thursday presented medical supplies worth 1.4 million dollars to three hospitals and the Judicial Service to support quality health care delivery services.

The four-foot square container of medical supplies, which included syringes, gloves, infusions, cannulas, catheters, baby support bags, bandages and D&C Prep Trays was presented to Ridge Hospital in Accra, Akatsi District Hospital, Margret Marquat Catholic Hospital, Kpando and first aid kits for the Judicial Service.

Mr Justice Anthony Abada, Board Chairman of PHI, Ghana, said it was redemption of a pledge the NGO made last year during a similar presentation that they would be making more donations. He said the organization was dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of people with disabilities and mental health as well as children with specific needs.

"We hope to even adopt foster homes and assist the children from infancy and to meet their medical needs to the ages of 18 years."

Mr Adaba, who is also a Justice at the High Court in Accra, said the organization would create homes for small groups of adults who could not live totally by themselves but have to depend on others for assistance.

Mr Moses Dani Baah, Deputy Minister of Health, who received the items on behalf of the institutions, commended PHI for the gesture adding: "The presentation has come at a time that the hospitals are highly in need of it".

He urged the organization to extend their services to the rural communities where such services were also in high demand "and together we all will be fulfilling Government's commitment to providing quality health care to all Ghanaians".

Representatives of the four beneficiaries were present to take their share of the supplies.
