Ghana is mourning the passing of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who died in the early hours of Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.

As tributes continue to pour in from across the nation and beyond, Prophet Jimmy Alla-Mensah, a US-based Ghanaian preacher, has expressed deep sorrow over her death — one he says God had earlier impressed upon his heart to intercede against.

In September 2025, the founder of House of Divine Glory Church shared a message on Facebook that many are now revisiting. In that post, the prophet urged prayers for the Rawlings family, writing:

“The Rawlings family are about to shed tears and sorrow again. God have mercy. Their gates have been replaced with black ones. They’re crying inside. May the Lord protect them. God have mercy on them and preserve their lives against any form of evil covenanted assignment of death.”

Following the confirmation of Nana Konadu’s passing, Prophet Alla-Mensah issued a statement expressing his heartbreak while reaffirming his faith in God’s sovereignty and mercy.

“The passing of Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings comes as a great shock and sorrow to the nation,” he said. “About a month ago, on September 24th, 2025, the Lord placed a strong prophetic burden on my heart to intercede for the Rawlings family, declaring divine mercy and preservation against any evil assignment of death.”

While acknowledging the pain of the loss, the prophet added that even in moments of tragedy, God’s mercy remains unchanging.

“Though this news is deeply heartbreaking, we hold firmly to the truth that God’s mercy still prevails even in the face of loss. May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may the Almighty comfort, strengthen, and preserve the entire Rawlings family in this difficult time.”

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, born November 17, 1948, in Cape Coast, was widely celebrated for her advocacy in women’s empowerment and social development. As founder of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, she was a formidable figure in Ghana’s political and civic life.

Her last public appearances included laying a wreath at the Forecourt of the Jubilee House to honour public servants who lost their lives in a helicopter accident, and attending the Dote Yie funeral rites for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, where she was accompanied by her children Amina and Kimathi Agyeman-Rawlings.

Her passing marks yet another moment of profound loss for a family that has played a defining role in Ghana’s history.

Prophet Jimmy Alla-Mensah joins millions of Ghanaians in mourning her death, urging the nation to continue upholding the Rawlings family in prayer.

“May the Lord have mercy on them and grant them comfort,” he said. “Ghana has lost a mother, a leader, and a woman of great strength.”
