Koforidua, Dec 21, GNA - The outgoing Medical Superintendent of the Koforidua Regional Hospital, Dr. Joseph E. Taylor, has called on health workers to provide quality, result oriented and client focused services enshrined in the mission statement of the Ghana Health Services (GHS). He said the environment in the country called for commitment and a radical change in the attitude of health professionals.

The Medical Superintendent was speaking at an end of year get together for staff of the Koforidua Regional Hospital on Friday, during which seven retiring staff were honoured.

It was also used as a send off for Dr. Taylor who had served as the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital for 20 years and is on transfer to the Eastern Regional Directorate of the GHS to be in-charge of Clinical Care.

He observed that in recent times there had been concerns raised about poor quality of health care delivery, indiscipline and poor human relationships of some health personnel.

Dr Taylor explained that with the launching of the Patients Charter on the code of conduct and disciplinary procedures had increased the expectation, awareness and insistence of the public on their rights. He said under the Health Insurance Scheme, patients would have the option of selecting Health facilities of their choice and called for efforts to improve the quality of health care and training at the Hospital to facilitate client and customer satisfaction. Dr. Taylor said there had been remarkable improvement in the infrastructure development at the Hospital with the handing over of the renovated obstetrics and gynaecology department, the paediatrics department, the laboratory, the mortuary and the kitchen complex with modern equipment.

He said the theatres, central sterilisation services unit, X-ray department and the laundry would also be handed over to the management soon and called on the hospital workers to take good care of the equipment and the buildings.

Dr. Taylor congratulated the staff for their performance during the year and urged them to do better next year.
