Asekye-Krukese (B/A) Feb 15, GNA - Teachers and pupils of Presbyterian Primary School at Asekye-Krukese in Nkoranza District of Brong Ahafo on Wednesday went on a demonstration in the town against the activities of thieves in the school.

The pupils carried placards some of which read, "The school is our only hope", "Give us peace to learn", "Our future is in danger and "Leave our school alone, don't spoil it".

Last Monday thieves broke into the school and removed bolts and nuts holding the school's pavilion, exposing the roofs to the danger of being ripped off by any strong wind.

The demonstrating staff and pupils later presented a petition to the Unit Committee in which they called on the community's leaders to set up a watchdog committee to ensure the safety of the school's facilities.

Miss Salamatu Mohammed, girls prefect who presented the petition expressed concern about the activities of the thieves as their future was being jeopardised.

Mr Abraham Nimo, headteacher, noted the upsurge in the miscreants' activities of late and cited the theft of electricity cables, which were to be used to connect power to the school.

Such activities are disgraceful to the community, he said and called on the community leaders to collaborate to address the problem. Mr Kwaku Effah, chairman of the Unit Committee and Mr. Ankoman Nimo, chairman of the school management committee, announced that a task force would soon be set up to patrol the school at night to ward off such incidents.
