Re-constituted Board of Governors inaugurated at BOKASS

Awiebo (W/R), July 2, GNA - A fourteen-member Board of Governors for the Bonzo Kaku Senior High School (BOKASS), to see to the smooth running of the school, has been inaugurated at Awiebo in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

It has as its chairman, Mr. Francis Ehoma Kwaw, who is the Director of the Bureau of Ghana Languages.

The 14-member board is made up of three representatives from the District Assembly, two from the traditional council, two old students, two staff representative each from the district assembly and the education directorate and three Parent Teacher Association members. The school, which has been without a board of governors for the past six years, has suffered a lot of setbacks coupled with demonstrations by aggrieved students and other challenges.

Inaugurating the board, the Western Regional Director of Education, Mrs. Rebecca Afiba Dadzie, prevailed upon the Board to channel their rich experiences to project the image of the school. She called on the members to live above reproach, and serve as role models for the staff and students, and also work to towards improving the conditions in the school.

She appealed to them to pay regular visit to the school. The Headmistress of the School, Mrs. Rejoice Aseye Amoah, noted that the re-constitution of the Board of Directors came at the right time, since the school had experienced some disturbances that led to its closure. She was optimistic that with unity of purpose and commitment, the Board of Governors of BOKASS, would fill the yawning gap that was created during the past six years, adding that "I hope the Board would serve to restore the hope and also improve upon the image of the school". The District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, Mr. Daniel K. Eshun, called on the Board to work assiduously to meet the challenges of the school.

He called on them not to compromise on discipline, since it was the backbone of every good institution, adding that, members should help to make BOKASS one of the best schools in the district. The Board Members were sworn in by the Nzema-East Municipal Magistrate, Mr. Frank Ashitey Addo, who charged them to work diligently to leave a legacy after their three-year term. Nana Bonyiah Kofi VI, a member of the Board in an acceptance speech, promised to work hard to redeem the image of the school.
