Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, has stated that the reconstruction of the Makola No. 2 Market that got burnt some 9 years ago had begun and is scheduled to be completed in the third week of December, 2018.
This follows persistent calls by traders over the last couple of years complaining over the state of the temporal space given to them after the market got burnt.
The Mayor said this on Friday 9th November, 2018 when he toured the Makola No. 2 and Agbogbloshie Food Stuff Market as part of his routine visit to trading areas within the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) jurisdiction.
He was accompanied by officers of the Ashiedu Keteke Sub Metro. He assured that the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) who owns 90 percent shares of the market had given the green light for works to begin and appealed to the traders to be patient.
