Ho, July 28, GNA - The 66 Artillery Regiment, (Volta Barracks), Ho, on Sunday presented spectacles to people with sight problems at Kpenoe, a farming community near the regiment. People of all ages with eye problems trooped to the chief's palace to take advantage of the gesture aimed at strengthening the regiment's military/civilian relations.
Captain George Dottey, Public Relations Officer of the regiment, said the USA Army donated the spectacles to the regiment in support of its community relations. Captain Dottey said the regiment would soon drill a borehole for the community to improve its water supply and forestall the incidence of guinea worm infestation in the area. Lieutenant-Colonel Mathew Battiston, Defence Attach=E9 at USA Embassy, expressed joy that the glasses are useful to people in the community.
Lieutenant-Colonel Jason Turner, who takes over from Lieutenant-Colonel Battiston pledged the preparedness of the embassy to regularly support communities that need assistance. Togbe Kotoku XI, Paramount Chief of Kpenoe Traditional Area, expressed gratitude to the 66 Artillery Regiment for its assistance to the community.
