The Regional Maritime University has held its 11th graduation ceremony and the official launch of the 10th anniversary of the university.

Vice Chancellor of the Regional Maritime University, Prof Elvis Nyarko charged the students to live and promote a sense of high integrity and moral values and also take advantage of the mirage of opportunities in the maritime industry.

He said the university will start a new program in ship building and naval architecture.

The Minister of Transport, Kweku Ofori Asiamah who doubles as the Chancellor and Board Chairman of the University lauded the collaboration between the RMU and Sea World Limited to run oil and gas programmes at the university.

He revealed that government has facilitated measures with a German firm to supply solar energy to the university to augment its energy needs.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in a speech read on his behalf by Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Deputy Minister Secondary and Tvert said more than 3million dollars worth of oil and gas equipment have been purchased by government for the University.

He further said government through the Ministry of Transport is to train and create job opportunities for the youth in the maritime industry.

In all, 477 students graduated with bachelors and diplomas. Awards were presented to students who distinguished themselves during the period of studies.
