Abesewa (Ash), May 24, GNA- Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister, has presented 100 bags of cement and eight packets of roofing sheets through the Ahafo-Ano South district Assembly to the people of Abesewa for the construction of a clinic.
Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, the District Chief Executive, announced this when he deputised for the Regional Minister at a fund-raising harvest by the people of Abesewa.
The clinic, which is estimated at 200 million cedis is to be funded through fund raising activities and voluntary contributions by the citizens of the town.
Resident males are paying 20,000 cedis each while resident females are paying 10,000 cedis each and non-resident males, 60,000 cedis each and the women 40,000 cedis each.
Mr Boateng said the government attaches great importance to the health of the people that was why the Regional Minister and the district assembly were contributing towards the project.
He asked the people to avoid acts that tended to undermine government's efforts at streamlining the economy.
Mr Stephen Balado Manu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo-Ano South, stressed the need for the various political parties to avoid violence during and after the December elections.
He cautioned the people to avoid unprotected sex and the youth to refrain from having sex in the early part of their lives. Nana Subin Kankam Amenado II, chief of Abesewa, asked the people to take education seriously by providing their children with their needs.
About 28 million cedis was realised at the function.
