Regional Minister joins KKDA to inaugurate projects

Mr Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister says he is committed to providing development projects to his constituents on a sustained basis to improve their socio-economic well-being.

He said with the numerous projects currently going on under his watch, the living conditions of the people of Kpone Katamanso is expected to be enhanced to enable them to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.

The Regional Minister gave the assurance when he inaugurated some projects under his initiative, jointly with Alhaji Essa Antiaye Tetteh, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kpone-Katamanso at various locations in the district.

The projects included a 6-unit classroom block with toilet facility at Haana at the cost GH?575,000, a 6-unit classroom block at Katamanso Presbyterian School with dual desks valued at GH? 510,000, as well as the provision of 15 desktop computers and accessories for an ICT centre at Oyibi, costing GH?310,000.

The Minister also inaugurated a 128 shed market at Kpone valued at GH?430,000, with funds from the district’s Internally Generated Funds and Common Fund, 700 streetlights, two pick-up vehicles to be distributed to the District Education and Health directorates, and the provision of 2,400 school uniforms to beneficiary schools.

Mr Afotey Agbo, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kpone-Katamanso, called on the constituents to support his efforts at developing the area.

He said the human resource development of the constituency was critical, noting that, he would not renege on education but would prioritize the provision of the needed educational facilities to enhance teaching and learning at all levels.

“The needs of Kpone Katamanso are numerous and with the various projects, I am spearheading, nothing will derail my intentions to the people and the hundreds who will queue on Election Day to vote for me as the Member of Parliament for the area,” he stated.

He refuted assertions that the inauguration of the projects were to gain political leverage over his opponents in the upcoming NDC primaries, adding that, the projects, dotted across the constituency needed to be officially handed over to the beneficiaries.

He admonished the school children to take their studies seriously and make the best of their youth and uphold discipline in every undertaking.

Alhaji Essa Antiaye Tetteh, the DCE, said plans are far advanced to expand the Kpone market into a market complex with stores and Lorry Park to help promote economic activities in the district.

Madam Rosina Adobor, the District Director of Education thanked the Minister and the district assembly for the projects and said: “The provision of these accessible infrastructural

facilities in the educational sector is opportune and crucial in the delivery of quality education”.

She expressed optimism that government, through the district assembly, would do more to improve on educational infrastructure.
