Sunyani, Aug 13, GNA- Attendance at the new regional hospital in Sunyani has increased by 30 percent within its one year of operation, Dr Daniel Asare, medical superintendent in-charge of the Hospital has said. He said the new ultra modern 250-bed hospital had also performed well within the period.
Dr Asare was speaking at an open day to commemorate its first anniversary in Sunyani on Friday.
He said the hospital recorded a total attendance of 163,312 persons at the outpatient department and 11,580 patients who were admitted during the period.
Dr Asare expressed concern about the high number of health personnel travelling outside the country, saying 10 nurses at the regional hospital had left.
He said the hospital has the vision to become "a world-class care organization of excellence for best practice in the medical and nursing care in the training of medical and nursing professionals to provide efficient health care service by 2020".
The Medical Superintendent mentioned inadequate offices and staff accommodation as major problems facing the hospital but gave the assurance that in spite of the challenges the staff were prepared to work to the health needs of the people.
Al-haj Dr Mohammed Bin Ibrahim, Regional Director of Health Service, said the forum would be organized annually to enable the public to assess the hospital's performance.
