Ho, Aug 31, GNA - Mr Muhammed K. Addoquaye, the Volta Regional Director of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), on Tuesday said preparations had been made to enable those who missed taking photos for the voters register in the region to do so when mopping-up begins on September 3. Mr Addoquaye told the GNA in a telephone interview that 97,612 out of 880,347 who registered in the Volta Region were not able to take their photos.
"If need be, District Officers would use mobile teams as well to move around to enable many people take their pictures", he said. He SAID some military personnel who had registered but were on missions at the time of the exercise as well as those who travelled and returned had taken their photos.
"That cuts the number of people to be covered in the mopping-up exercise," Mr Addoquaye said but could not give figures. Mr Addoquaye said mopping-ups had always been part of the process in the compiling the electoral roll in Ghana and urged all who missed the opportunity the last time to do so now. 31 Aug 04
