Nkawie (Ash), June 4, GNA - Mr Eddy Obeng-Darko, Atwima-Nwabiagya District Director of Education, has stated that proper records keeping and accurate compilation of reliable statistical data are vital for efficient planning and management.
He said accurate statistical data and efficient records keeping could only be attained through honesty, fairness and diligence to duty. In an address read on his behalf by Mr Baffour Asare-Bediako, an Assistant Director of Education at a workshop for head-teachers at separate sessions at Nkawie and Abuakwa on Friday, Mr Obeng-Darko said efficient planning of educational programmes and policies required reliable information.
About 80 head-teachers attended the workshop under the theme, "Strengthening Effective Supervision to Improve Teaching and Learning in Basic Schools," organised by the Education Directorate with support from the Department for International Development (DFID), a British donor organisation.
Mr Obeng-Darko called on head-teachers to establish close partnership with the communities and other key stakeholders to promote education.
He urged them to intensify in-service teacher professional development to enable them to be innovative in the application of low cost instructional processes, tools, materials and other methods to increase the performance of teachers.
Mr Obeng-Darko charged the participants to help to achieve qualitative improvement in basic education through effective teaching and supervision at the school and classroom levels.
Mr Joe Kingsley Ofori, Assistant Director of Education, who presided, advised the head-teachers to build trust in the school system and to respond to the concerns of the school to enhance education.
