Residents of Old Tafo urged to unite for development

Kumasi, Jan. 28, GNA - Mr Francis Ampadu, Assemblyman for Ahenbronum electoral area at Old Tafo in the Kumasi metropolis, has urged the residents to unite and ensure development of the area. He noted that no meaningful development could take place without the collective effort of the people in the decision-making process. Mr Amadu was addressing local church leaders, unit committee members, a cross section of the people and former assembly members at a meeting at Tafo during the weekend.

The meeting afforded the people to discuss at length the need to plan and initiate development programmes to improve their living conditions. He said the electoral area had for the past six years seen some progress in the execution of such programmes and mentioned the rehabilitation of some selected schools and toilets, tarring of roads, electrification project among others.

The assemblyman extended his gratitude to the people for their involvement in the implementation of the projects. Mr Ampadu said some of the programmes planned for the year-included sanitation, construction of access roads to ease traffic congestion, provision of streetlights and how to ensure security at the area. He stressed the need for the unit committee members, churches, and other former assembly members to help in mobilising the people in the execution of such development programmes.

Mr Agyen Frimpong, former assemblyman for Adompoum electoral area at Old Tafo, stressed the need for them to mobilise both financial and material resources towards the face-lift of the area.
