The Koforidua-Ho Commandery and Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Saint John International has appealed to government and Parliament to resist pressure from the gay lobbyists both home and abroad to introduce any legislation which would end up legalizing same sex marriages in the country.

The group explained that, often such legislations are introduced under the pretext of protecting the fundamental human rights of gays.

This was contained in a communique issued by the Grand Commandery and the Ladies Auxiliary at the end of their first Biennial Convention at Koforidua.

The group warned that, any such legislation has the potential to destroy the moral fabric of the Ghanaian society and pose danger to the sustenance of family life in the country.

The communique commended the hierarchy of the Catholic Church for condemning and denouncing same sex marriages and called on traditional authorities, the various religious groups and civil society organizations to voice out their opposition to the same sex marriages in the country and Africa.

The communique called on government to quicken the implementation of the partnership agreement between government and faith based organizations in the management of faith based schools to help strengthen the management of the schools by the religious organizations to check the increasing indiscipline among the youth in the country.

The communique recommended the adoption of the management system used in handling mission hospitals where the state pays the salaries of the staff and leaves the management of the hospitals in the hands of the missions.
