Sunyani, April 27, GNA - The Reverend David Faris Frimpong, Secretary of Christ International Preparatory and Junior Secondary School in Sunyani has advised students that completing the JSS did not mean an opportunity to exhibit untoward behaviours. "You should look beyond the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which is just one of the countless hurdles in education", he said.

Speaking at the first graduation ceremony of the school, Rev Frimpong asked the students to realize that they were yet to go through senior secondary schools, university or other colleges. He advised the final year students of the school to pray and exhibit good behaviour at all times, "since you cannot be too sure of the results of the last BECE.

Rev Frimpong urged the finalists to lead exemplary lifestyles to encourage their parents to assist them to climb the academic ladder. The Reverend Minister expressed regret that some parents are more interested in spending their resources on unproductive activities like alcoholism and clothes instead of their children's education. "It is disheartening to see some parents interested in spending their money on funerals, drinks and clothes while others completely neglect their children's education", he said.

Rev Frimpong announced that the school had set up a 500 million cedi scholarship scheme to support its brilliant but needy students, saying other assistance would be in the provision of educational materials like school bags and books.

A total of 154 graduating students were presented with certificates and awards to deserving ones.
