Rohit emerges winner of 6th Edition of National Spelling Bee Competition

Master Rohit Sahijwani, an eleven year old student of Delhi Public School International, has emerged winner of the 6th Edition of the National Spelling Bee Finals competition organized in Accra at the weekend.

Mr Sahijwani has won a ticket of Delta Airline to the United States of America to participate in the 86th Scripps Spelling Bee competition, a laptop from MTN and GHC400 cedis airtime, GHC1500 cedis Ecobank Junior Savings Account, GHC500 cedis from Ecobank for the school, products from Indomie, a Gold medal and a certificate.

The first runner-up, Mr Sedem Dzisi, a twelve year old student of Madonna School in the Eastern Region, received GHC1200 cedi Ecobank Junior Savings Account , GHC500 cedis for the School, MTN high speed modem and GHC200 cedis airtime, certificates, silver medal and products from Indomie.

The Second runner-up, Mr Darryl Thompson, a twelve year old student of Madonna School in the Eastern Region received GHC1000 cedis, Ecobank Junior Savings Account, MTN high speed modem and GHC500 cedis for the school, GHC100 cedis airtime, certificates, bronze medal and products from Indomie.

The event is sponsored by Indomie Instant Noodles and MTN Ghana Foundation.

Madam Eugenia Tachie-Mensah, country Director for Young and Educators Foundation, organizers of the programme, said their outfit had completed its annual training session for 305 teachers, from 207 schools from 8 regions.

She said the sessions were planned and executed by English Language trained teachers who are passionate about literacy and education and expressed the hope that the winner would make the country proud at the international competition in the United States of America.

Mr Manish Goyal, Head of Sales and Marketing for Indomie Instant Noodles, said their outfit supported the event to better the lives of children through literacy programmes and will continue their commitment in years to come.
