Rotary Club of Tamale has donated 79 computer tablets and accessories worth GH?25, 000.00 to four junior high schools (JHS) in the Sagnarigu District to be used as a global library on all subjects.
The beneficiary schools included Bagabaga Demonstration JHS (B), Tiyumba JHS, Bethel Methodist JHS and Tamale Vocational Training Institute.
Mr Alexander Kpodo, President of Rotary Club of Tamale, who presented the computers to the beneficiary schools at Sagnarigu, said they were meant to enhance pupils’ access to ICT to facilitate research activities.
The computer tablets do not require internet connectivity to operate.
Mr Kpodo said there is the need to prepare the pupils to be ICT savvy since the skill is important for their overall development.
He said the Rotary Club has implemented various projects including 300 household based toilets known as micro flush toilets in the Northern Region, which amounted to 411,000 dollars
He added that the club had also donated important medical equipment to the maternity ward of e Tamale Teaching Hospital as well as provided dual desks to some schools in the West Mamprusi District.
Mr Alhassan Mohammed Sorugudoo, Sagnarigu District Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, who received the items on behalf of the beneficiary schools, expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club of Tamale for the generous support towards improving education delivery in the district.
Mr Sorugudoo urged the teachers and pupils to use the facility judiciously to advance technology in their schools.
