Rural Bank Donates Roofing Sheets to Rainstorm Victims

Hweehwee (Eastern Region) -- The Odwenanoma Rural Bank, with its headquarters at Abetifi in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region, has donated roofing sheets valued over ?2 million to the chief and people of Hweehwee, one of its catchment areas, the bank's contribution towards the building of a new six classroom block for Presbyterian Primary School, which was destroyed by a rain storm.

Donating the items, Mr. Frank Asiamah Boateng, who is the manager of the bank, flanked by two directors of the bank, Messrs C. K. Gyamfi and J. O. Ntiriakwa, stated that it has been the aim of the bank to enhance education in its catchment area and also assist the various communities in the catchment area their developmental activities.

He appealed to parents to use the little that they have in educating their wards since education is the bedrock of every nation. He pledged the bank's support to the people at all times.

The catechist of the Hweehwee Presbyterian church, Kennedy Asiedu Addo, said the school has produced a number of important personalities in the country and therefore appealed to all and sundry to come to its aid.

The Hweehweehene, Nana Boateng Amoafo, who received the items on behalf of the people, thanked the bank for heeding to their call for assistance and urged others to emulate the shining example by the bank and come to the school's aid.

Earlier, at a harvest organised by the Hweehwee Presbyterian church to mobilise funds the school project, Reverend Joseph Amoah Mensah, the chaplain of Abetifi Presbyterian Training College (ABETICO), commended the church for organising a harvest to assist the school to train our future leaders.

He urged parents to invest positively in their children's education and also teach them to lead good moral lives to enable them grow to become good leaders.

He said the early missionaries saw the need of education to their mission work since without education, it will be very difficult to propagate the gospel to save mankind, hence the opening up of a number of schools by the missions.

Rev. Amoah Mensah therefore called on the community to assist the church and the school to put up the building.
