Agona Swedru, Feb. 24, GNA - The Vice Chairperson of the Akyempim Rural Bank's Board of Directors, Mrs. Eyi Acquah, has advised petty traders and other female workers and farmers in the Gomoa District to cultivate a strong savings habit.

Mrs. Eyi Acquah said this would assist them to credit facilities from the rural banks in the district to expand their businesses and other economic ventures to better their conditions of living and make them less vulnerable in society.

The Vice Chairperson was addressing traders at a meeting organised by the management of the Akyempim Rural Bank at Agona Swedru. Mrs. Eyi Acquah mentioned education and health as the vital areas where women, especially married couples, were expected to play a leading role to ensure that the children they produce were properly brought up to help them play their parts very well when they grow up. She said it was for this reason that the government has initiated the various micro credit scheme through the rural banks to offer the much needed support to hardworking women to realise their visions in life.

Mrs. Eyi Acquah therefore, counselled all jobless women and those already in the trading, farming and other ventures to form co-operative societies to qualify them for loans from the rural banks which have been given the mandate to disburse micro credit facilities to female working groups.

Mr. Jacob Wellington Assan, General Manager of the Akyempim Rural Bank, urged prospective customers of the bank to feel free to approach any of the bank's agencies or mobilisation centres for assistance whenever they needed counselling on savings for correct guidelines and direction.

Mr. Assan assured people who patronise the bank of an uninterrupted and credible service and further asked them to increase their deposits and shareholdings.
