The Government, recognizing the importance of assisting farmers reduce post-harvest losses passed the Local Raw Material (LRM) ACT in 2012 - a law that offers duty breaks for manufacturers that use local raw materials in their production.

Ruut Extra Premium Beer, Ghana’s first Cassava beer was launched in December 2012 as part of GGBL’s agenda to drive the use of Local Raw materials in the manufacture of its products.

The Launch of Ruut Extra premium beer, opened up the opportunity to showcase GGBL’s commitment to impacting the communities within which we operate and to also demonstrate our participation in helping develop a sustainable supply chain in Ghana.

Ruut Extra premium beer, backed by its heritage has been positioned to leverage the resurgence of National pride in Ghanaians which is demonstrated in their patronage of made in Ghana Goods and desire to invest in local communities as a means of growing the economy.

Ruut Extra, thanks to the use of about 71% LRM from Ghana’s soil has the opportunity to partner with the ministry of Agriculture and to sponsor this year’s celebrations as an official beverage sponsor after a successful sponsorship in past editions of Farmers Day.

Corporate Relations Director said “the multiple award winning brand is honoured to share in celebrating our hardworking farmers with a sponsorship package worth GHC 70K with items such as a Hammer mill for the Best National Cassava Farmer, 5 Tricycles to 5 regional Best Farmers, Fishing net and hooks to the Best Western regional Fisherman, 8 boxes of Farming tool kit to each of the above awardees, 10 cases of Ruut to each and branded polo shirts. Each of the other awardees nationwide will receive 5 cases of Ruut Extra and branded polo shirts each. Ruut is also sponsoring the opening and closing ceremony with 50 cases of Ruut and 60 cases of Malta Guinness and Alvaro.”
