Nkoranza (B/A), Jan. 30, GNA - Scholars in Transit (SIT-UP), a non-governmental organisation in partnership with the Bible Society of Ghana, is distributing 6,000 Bibles valued at about GH¢36,000 to students in public Junior High Schools in Nkoranza North and South districts.

Reverend Frank Peprah Twumasi, Chief Executive Officer of SIT-UP, who presented some of the Bibles to 290 students of Nkoranza Roman Catholic Junior High School, said the donation was meant for the education and moral up-bringing of the students. "Since the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, there is the need to introduce students and school children to the Word of God so they will grow to fear to commit sin," he said. Rev. Twumasi intimated that the daily reading of the Bible would also enable the students to improve their proficiency in the English language and their prayers would mould them to become responsible citizens. He announced that the NGO would organise a special quiz competition to test the students' knowledge of stories in the Bible and prizes would be given to deserving participants.

Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, who received the Bibles on behalf of the schools, thanked the donors for the gesture. He advised the students to read the Bible regularly as a guide to their lives.
