Asamankese (E/R), Sept. 17, GNA - Teachers have been urged to make the teaching of science and mathematics interesting and practical to encourage more students, particularly girls to study those disciplines. The West Akyem District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Umar Amoah, who made the call, said the promotion of science and technology was fundamental to national development.
The DCE was speaking at the closing ceremony of the District Science, Technology and Mathematics Education (STME) clinic held at Asamankese on Friday.
Fifty girls and 10 boys attended the programme, which was sponsored by the district assembly.
Mr Amoah pledged the assembly's support for all educational programmes aimed at developing education in the area. Mrs Akosua Takyiwa Adu, The District Director of Education, commended the assembly for providing and improving school infrastructure and said a modern library complex was being constructed at Asamankese. The chief of Assin-Osenase, Nana Ofosu Ware 11, appealed to teachers to work harder to improve the standard of education in the district.
