Takoradi, July 22, GNA - The Sekondi-Takoradi Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry (STRCCI) is to implement a dual vocational training programme in the Western Region.
Mr Vincent Annan, Regional Executive Secretary of the Chamber, announced at a general meeting of STRCCI at Takoradi on Friday.
He said the programme to be implemented in collaboration with Hamburg Chamber of Commerce of Germany, would focus mainly on industrial training with periodic examinations.
Mr Annan said the programme would go a long way to assist members of STRCCI to meet their human resource needs.
Mr Kofi Ntow, Fund Manager of the Council for Technical, Vocational Education, and Training (COTVET), said the COTVET had trained about 5,000 master craftsmen to assist to provide skills training for the youth.
He said the COTVET coordinates technical and vocational training in the country in order to assist enterprises to be competitive and create jobs.
Mr. Ato Van-Ess, Regional Chairman of STRCCI, said no business in the region had accessed the Venture Capital Fund.
He said about 40 businesses in the country had benefitted from the Fund and none of them was from the region.
Mr Van-Ess urged members of STRCCI to take advantage of the Venture Capital Fund to expand and improve their businesses.
Later, STRCCI Newsletter and offices of the Western Chamber Credit Union (WESCCU) were launched and inaugurated respectively.
