SWDA expresses gratitude to government

Mampong (Ash), Nov. 9, GNA - The Sekyere-West District Assembly (SWDA) on Thursday expressed gratitude to President J.A. Kufuor and the government for elevating Mampong to a municipal status. The Assembly also lauded the government for creating a new Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo district.

Mampong (Ash), Nov. 9, GNA - The Sekyere-West District Assembly (SWDA) on Thursday expressed gratitude to President J.A. Kufuor and the government for elevating Mampong to a municipal status. The Assembly also lauded the government for creating a new Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo district. In a communiqu=E9 read by the Presiding Member Mr Rockson Agyemang at the Assembly's first sitting of its third meeting at Mampong, the Assembly stated that the new developments had been long cherished by the chiefs and people of the area. The communiqu=E9 expressed the hope that the elevation of Mampong to a municipality and the creation of the new district out of SWDA would make a positive impact on the developmental agenda of the two areas. On sanitation, the assembly said it had purchased a new skip-loader to augment its fleet in renewed efforts to improve on the environment. Mr Peter Abum Sarkodie, Member of Parliament (MP) for Mampong, announced that the government has awarded a 13.4-kilometre road in the Mampong township to contractors for rehabilitation to be completed within 18 months. In a related development, the students union of SWDA has also expressed its gratitude to President Kufuor for elevating Mampong to a municipality and the creation of the new Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo district. A statement signed by Mr Dennis Kwakwa, Union's president, pledged unflinching support towards the promotion of the two assemblies. It appealed to political and traditional leaderships in the two areas to provide the kind of direction that will ensure that the entire citizenry were always united in purpose to enhance their developmental agenda.
