Old Students of the Swedru Senior High School resident in the United State of America (USA) have donated 100 dining hall tables worth 12,000 Ghana Cedis to their alma mater.

Mrs Agnes Leticia Hawkson, Headmistress of the school, made this known at the annual general Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meeting on Saturday at Agona Swedru.

She said the tables have come at a time when the existing ones have become too weak and an eyesore.

Mrs Hawkson commended the US based old students for their kind gesture to the school and urged others to emulate the example.

She expressed serious concern about the failure of some parents to pay fees for the final year students who would write their exams next month.

The Headmistress said the students owed the school a total of 75,000 Ghana Cedis in respect of fees, making it very hard to feed the boarders.

She reminded parents that payment of school fees by cash has been abolished and therefore urged them to pay through banks and Post Offices.

According to the headmistress, the Ghana Education Service (GES) introduced payment of school fees through bankers draft or money orders to avoid theft and misuse of money meant for fees by students.

Commodore Albert Addison, Outgoing Chairman of the (PTA), mention some of projects undertaken by the group as construction of fence wall around the girls’ dormitory, Television set for the Teachers Common Room and construction of additional classroom block.

He appealed to the parents and teachers to continue to cooperate with the new PTA executives under the chairmanship of Mr Edward Osei Acheampong.

Other members are Mr Kenneth Ayivi, Vice chair, Mr K Frempong, Secretary, and Asomaning Budu, Treasurer.

The PTA honoured Mr E. K. T. Osam, former headmaster, Mr Vincent Arhin-Hayford, former Assistant Headmaster ( academic) and four other retired tutors for their meritorious service to the school.
