Ho, Oct 14, GNA - The Volta Regional Directorate of the Electricity Company of Ghana, (ECG) on Thursday attributed the power outages in Peki on Friday, October 8 and Tuesday October 12 to sabotage.

A joint Police and ECG statement cautioned perpetrators of those acts to desist from any further attacks on the supply lines or be ruthlessly dealt with when caught.

The statement signed by Mr Felix Fiebor, the Volta Regional Director of the ECG, and Mr Kofi Duku Arthur, the Volta Regional Police Commander, said in the first instance ECG men accompanied by Policemen traced the fault that occurred at 1732 hours to the Peki/Tsito Mountains. It said the team found shattered porcelain and glass insulators at the site of the fault.

On October 12 at 0920 hours, another outage was traced to around the same place where with the team found shattered insulators with the location "blocked with a huge trap".

In both cases it was suspected that the "fault was as a result of gunshots".

It said the faults affected Dzemeni, Anum-Boso, To-Kpalime and Dodi as well.

The statement entreated the general public to help the ECG and the Police to apprehend the culprits.
