Over 100 contract workers of Italian construction company, Trasacco Estate Development Company, on Wednesday, 17 October 2018 demonstrated against the company’s decision to pay them only 25 percent of their salaries after sacking them two months ago without pay.
The company allegedly sacked them verbally without giving them their retrenchment packages.
According to some irate staff of them, they had worked as contract workers for eight years without their full salaries, contrary to a stated probation period of 6 months.
They said management of Trasacco asked them to go home without giving them any reason and for two months their retrenchment packages have not been paid.
Clad in red attires, with red wrist and head bands, they massed up at the company’s headquarters on Wednesday to demand their benefits.
They have promised to repeat the demonstration until they are paid in full.
