The Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has shared her views on the vetting of the Chief Justice nominee, Justice Paul Barffour Bonney.

Speaking to the media, Ibrahimah commended the Speaker of Parliament for asserting his authority and upholding the laws of the House to maintain order during the vetting process.

She noted that "there came a point when the committee had to decide which issues to prioritize and which to set aside."

According to her, she expected the Appointments Committee to proceed with the vetting of the nominee and address any outstanding matters later, emphasising that Parliament should not appear disorganized.

Ibrahimah expressed concern over the amount of time wasted during the session, noting that after two hours, there had been little progress.

She stressed that "time is a valuable resource that cannot be regained and that many members could have used that time more productively."

Her main concern, she said, was that parliamentary duties should be carried out efficiently and in the proper order.

She further urged members to adhere strictly to parliamentary rules.

Referring to comments made by the Minority Leader on the committee, she pointed out that the privilege for members to make preliminary statements is not a right but a courtesy.

Therefore, abusing that privilege could lead to its withdrawal in future proceedings.

She added that she looks forward to the confirmation of Justice Paul Barffour Bonney and the formation of a renewed Supreme Court.
