Santaclaucians mark their golden anniversary on campus

The 1970 year group of the Adisadel Old Boys' Association (Santaclaucians '70) has presented a cheque for GH¢ 9,000 towards the Fencing Project of their alma mater.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the School’s Old Boys’ Association, which initiated the project received the cheque for the project, scheduled to start in a month.

The various year groups are sponsoring the “Adisco Fencing project”, expected to cover the entire land of the school.

This is to prevent encroachment of the school’s land and also protect students, staff and their families from criminals staying around the school's surrounding communities who sometimes attack staff at odd hours.

Additionally, the project, when completed, is expected to promote discipline among students as various unapproved routes through which some of them sneak in and out of school, would be sealed.

Santaclaucians '70, led by its president, Mr. Oscar Bruce, made the presentation over the weekend at a durbar of old boys, staff and students to commemorate the year group’s 50 years of “First foot - setting on the Adisadel College Soil”.

Though the first foot-setting dates back to September 25, 1965, the year group, per its constitution, comprise all old students “who completed form five in 1970, and all those who would have completed form five in 1970, had they entered Adisadel earlier than the said year”.

Activities of the three-day celebration include “Kissing of Adisadel School Soil” to show respect and love for the school, counseling session on career selection, and remembrance of deceased colleagues.

Mr. Bruce, delivering a speech on behalf of the year group, described their first foot-setting as a “life-defining act” since according to him the period of their stay at the school played a significant role in making them what they were today.

“Among us are individuals who, because of the first class education we had in this institution have attained excellence in various professions,” the Former President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, stated.

He said the year group considered contributions towards the advancement of the school as a continuous enterprise and commended all old boys for their various donations and projects on the campus and urged them to continue giving back to their alma mater.

Mr. Kojo Yankah, the founder of African University College of Communication, and National President of the Adisadel Old Boys Association, commended the 1970 year group for the illustration of their love for the school.

He called on other year groups to support the fencing and other projects, which were yet to be initiated.

The headmaster of the school, Mr. William Kumi- Yeboah, said the fencing project was timely and lauded the old boys for their continual support.

Among the old boys was Mr. Alan John Kyerematen of the New Patriotic Party whose revelation that he was only nine years when he was admitted into the school, during the self-introduction session of the ceremony, attracted thunderous applause and cheers from the students.
