Hajia Ayishetu Seidu the substantive Municipal Chief Executive for the Savelugu/Nanton Municipal Assembly is yet to make her first official visit to her office, thirty days after being sworn in.

She garnered 50 out of the 64 total votes cast on May, 13 2017. Security threats including banning her from attending gatherings as guest of honour and threats to make live unbearable for her should she report at her post are among reasons why the first female chief executive of the municipality is yet to report to perform her official duties.

When all thought the dust had settled after a fierce resistance from some group of persons purported to be allies of the New Patriotic Party in the Savelugu/Nanton Municipality on her nomination, the office of the Municipal Executive Monday May, 12 2017 received a petition demanding the whereabouts and resignation of the substantive Municipal Chief Executive.

Hajia Ayishetu Seidu missed out on her role as the Guest of Honour at the Pong Tamale Veterinary School’s graduation ceremony on Saturday May, 10 2017 due to intelligence gathered the previous day indicating an ambush by some residents.

Some residents clouded in red and black attires, with red bands and wielding matches and other dangerous weapons took to the streets in the municipality in registering their displeasure at the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and presiding members for nominating and confirming her amidst.

The group read and presented a petition to the Coordinating Director Issaka Braimah Basintale demanding her immediate resignation as the municipal chief executive revealing they still hold their previous stance of not accepting an “allien” as their MCE.

“Hajia is not a registered voter in either of the two constituencies and has never participated actively in any NPP activity in any of the two constituencies”.

The group also accused her of bribing the fifty presiding members hence the massive confirmation, “She bribed the assembly members with GHS 1,500.00 to confirm her which is a criminal act under the constitution”.

Though Hajia Ayishetu Seidu did not confirm the truth or otherwise of the allegations, 3news.com can confirm her continuous absence from the office is as a result of security issues which are currently before the Northern Regional Security Council for appropriate measures.

She however revealed her massive win never came on the back of bribery but the trust the presiding members have in her to deliver on her mandate.

She indicated she is a native of Savelugu and has lived in Savelugu thus the allien tag is neither here nor there.

“What’s their proof of bribery, I didn’t bribe anybody, these are efforts geared towards denting my image and on me being an allien, I am a native of Savelugu and still have my family house there”.
