School acquires more land for SSS and Vocational Institute

Breman Asikuma (C/R) July 22, GNA - The Church of Christ International School at Breman Asikuma has acquired 30 hectares for the construction of a senior secondary school and a vocational institute. The project, which forms part of the expansion programme of the School, would be undertaken in phases.

The Proprietor of the school, Mr Samuel Mends said this at the lunching of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the school. The theme for the celebration is: "Quality Education."

He said that the School, which started in 1995 with few students, had a student population of 650 and pledged that the school would offer quality education.

Mr Mends said as part of its aim to provide quality education in the area, the school was sponsoring six teachers to undertake distance learning at the University of Education, Winneba to upgrade their knowledge.

Mr Samuel Kwame Berko, Head Teacher, expressed his gratitude to the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for their support in the development of the School.

He said the School scored 100 per cent with 84 per cent distinctions in the 2004 Basic Education Certificates Examination compared to 100 per cent with 64 per cent distinctions in 2003.

The PTA Chairman, Mr Maclean Okai said that since 2001 they had spent 10 million cedis in the provision of some the social amenities to the school.

He appealed to the District Assembly and the Ghana Education Service to assist the School with building material for the execution of the project.

Nana Okor-Yaw Abonyi IV, Adontenhene of Breman Traditional Council, who represented the Omanhene of the Area, Nana Amoakwa Buadu VI urged parents to invest in the education of their children education now for their future benefit.
