Mr. Johnson Gyekye, Headmaster of Attafuah Senior High Technical School at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region, has appealed to corporate bodies, benevolent organisations and individuals to assist the school with structural development.

Mr. Gyekye, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Akim Oda, on Tuesday, said the school needs help to facilitate teaching and learning.

The Headmaster said when he assumed office in December, 2009, the students population was 150 but it has increased to 1,000, and that the school needs more dormitories, a library, classrooms and accommodation for both teaching and non-teaching staff.

According to Mr. Gyekye, the school and the Parent-Teacher Association have started the construction of a block for visual arts students; an 18-unit classroom block, a dining hall, a canteen block and had also rehabilitated the existing girls and boys dormitories.

He said the appeal had become necessary because the government alone cannot bear the cost of education and that assistance from corporate bodies would go a long way to help provide a congenial atmosphere for the staff and students.

The Headmaster assured that the school would continue to raise high the standard of education in the area and called on well-meaning Ghanaians to support it.**
