Asonomaso Nkwanta (Ash), Sept. 17, GNA - Kids of the Asonomaso Nkwanta primary school in the Kwabre district have appealed to the District Assembly and philanthropists to assist in the re-construction of a six-classroom block which was destroyed by a rainstorm about three years ago.
The situation has compelled them to attend classes under trees, a situation that has negatively affected teaching and learning with many pupils dropping out of school. Master Richard Asante, a class two pupil who made the appeal on behalf of colleagues, said to them, going to school in the town had become drudgery.
"Our teachers have to stop classes and close the school whenever it threatens to rain. We are therefore appealing for assistance to enable those of us from this part of the world also go to school", he added. Mr Kofi Asamoah-Appiah, Assemblyman for the town said, the community had already mobilized some funds and building materials for the start of the project but they are woefully inadequate. He therefore re-echoed the appeal and pledged the readiness of townsfolk to provide communal labour. 17 Sep. 05
