School of Cosmetology holds fifth graduation

Accra, Sept 17, GNA - The leadership of Ghana Hairdressers and Beautician Association (GHABA) has been advised to organise regular in-service training for their members on application of new cosmetics and hair products, which have been introduced into the system. Nana Araba Otua II, Queenmother of the Mankessim Traditional Area, who gave the advice, said the misapplication of hair products on their clients could land them into trouble.

Speaking at the fifth graduation of the School of Cosmetology in Accra, Nana Otua, who is also the Chairman of WINIPACK Group of Companies, said Ghanaians were now alive to their rights and therefore any mistake, which formerly could be described as a "work place hazard", could now send a person to jail.

She appealed to the government to place emphasis on vocational training adding that many boys and girls were in the streets doing menial jobs, which could not give them any better future because they did not learn any trade, or skills, which could earn them a living. The Proprietress of the School, Mrs Kate Arko advised the trainees to put into practice what they were taught in the school but not to practice what they thought was good for them. Mrs Joyce Lamptey, National Vice President of GHABA presented certificates to 31 of the graduating students.
