A five-day staff development orientation course and retreat on the theme: “Christ in you the hope of glory”, attended by 46 basic school teachers, has ended at Anum Appam in the Eastern Region.
The programme was aimed at strengthening the professional tools of the participants in the area of computer skills, as well as equipping them with requisite skills to enable them to meet future challenges.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Prophetess Elizabeth Quayeba Abredu, in-charge of the Promiseland Prayer Camp of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), said the development and support for education was not the sole responsibility of government, but also all stakeholders, especially parents and opinion leaders in the communities.
The prophetess, who is also the proprietor of Future Stars Schools at Anum Apapam and Achiansa, expressed appreciation to the management of the other private schools in the Ayensuano District for permitting their staff to work in a convenient environment.
She said ignorance and illiteracy were some of the challenges facing pupils and called for a holistic approach to solve it.
“Consistently, every year, many Ghanaian children do not pass their examination and many of those who pass, do not get admission to senior high schools”, Prophetess Abredu said.
She said this means the chances of many children accessing the best schools are limited, compelling parents to look for admission in private schools for their children”.
Prophetess Abredu said this further widened the gap between the rural and urban child in accessing quality education in the country.
She said the course would be a periodic affair for teachers in the district to help them widen their knowledge
