Ajumako Bisease (C/R), March 28, GNA - A 300 million cedis Science Resource Centre for the Bisease Secondary Commercial School was on Saturday inaugurated at Bisease. The centre comprising biology, physics, chemistry departments and a library was financed by the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly in conjunction with Ghana Education Service (GES).
Rev. Ama Afo Blay, Director General of GES, in a speech read on her behalf said, "If there is any future left for our youth, this future should be found in increased resource allocation to research and development in science and technology." She said adopting information and communications technology as a development strategy would improve the quality of education and also transform the socio-economic fortunes of teachers, students and the nation at large.
Rev. Blay thanked the board of governors and parent teacher association for complementing government efforts to ensure quality education for the students of the school. The function, which formed part of activities of the second speech and prize-giving day of the school, was under the theme: "Quality Education for Development".
Mr Isaac Edumadze Centre Regional Minister commended the school for placing 123rd out of 463 schools nation-wide in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in 2003. Mr Edumadze assured the school that his office and the assembly would continue to assist it not only to maintain standards but also to improve upon infrastructure.
