Second Lady supports Agona East District

The Second Lady, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, has presented school bags with learning tools, fruits, and other assorted items, to the Children's Ward of the Agona Swedru Municipal Hospital in the Central Region.

The donation is in line with her commitment to improve healthcare delivery, especially, for children across the country.

The wife of the Vice President, who was conducted round the hospital by the Medical Director of the hospital, interacted with some of the children on admission and gave them school bags, pencils, books, toys, and wished them speedy recovery.

Mrs. Amissah-Arthur commended the hospital and staff for their dedication to provide healthcare to the people and for managing childhood illnesses.

She said her aim is to see that children are treated with care because they are of topmost priority to their parents.

"Children are the future leaders and I am someone who believes in growing with the young generation in the area of health care delivery," she said.

She encouraged the doctors, nurses and the other staff to do more to ensure quality healthcare for children.

Earlier on the Second Lady for her passion in helping the needy as well as for providing social services for deprived communities especially children, presented library books and set of computers each with a UPS system to the Agona Duakwa Islamic Basic School and the Agona Kwanyarko Anglican Basic School all in the Agona East district of the Central Region.

In Agona Kwanyako led by the MP for Agona East Deputy Central Regional Minister, Hon Quainter Mame Pokuaa Sawyer, together with the Second Lady called on Nana Ampim Darko V the chief of Agona Kwanyako to pay homage.

Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur, a Professional librarian over the years has made constant effort at seeing that children, not only enroll, but also read and complete school and prayed that God will continue to assist in the noble venture.

Donating the books, the she called on the teachers and pupils to make good use of the books by reading as a learning tool to aid the children and called on the Headmaster of the school to use the computer for administrative work by capturing data on students’ academic work and also student enrolment.

The Second Lady also took her environmental crusade to the school and educated the audience both school children, teachers and the chiefs the need to be clean and live in clean environment to avoid cholera.

Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur also commissioned the newly refurbished Municipal Educational office complex for the Agonal Swedru Education Municipal Office at the cost of GH 45.000.00.
