Charged on accusers to substantiate claims
The paramount chief of Seikwa traditional area, Nana Gyimah Ankoanah has described as unfounded and unmeritorious the scores of allegations leveled against him by the Krontihene of Babu traditional area, Nana Asare Boateng a couple of weeks ago.
According to him, it sounds very odd for a colleague traditional leader to descend on him like that at a time that the chieftaincy institution in Brong Ahafo region is trying to carve a good image for itself. Nana Gyimah explained that, even though he bears the people of Badu no grudge, the Krontihene decided to attack his reputation as well as the Seikwa stool creating an impression that the two traditional areas are on war path. The paramount chief who was flanked by other sub-chiefs in the area in an interview with Classic News at his palace retorted that there was no thought in the series of verbal insults raised against him alongside the Seikwa traditional council.
He intimated that the subjects in the two traditional towns are not foes and that nothing would compel them to create that enmity between them. It was established that such development all the time set a platform for inter ethnic conflict, adding, Brong Ahafo (B/A) Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and House of Chiefs are not ready to spend tons and tons of moneys resolving avoidable dispute, therefore , Nana Boateng’s attitude must be condemned by all peace loving Ghanaians , especially those in B/A.
With almost all the chiefs present wearing frown faces to express their displeasure over the assertion, the paramount chief charged on the Krontihene to consider the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in B/A at the moment and desist from making unguarded statements against innocent people in authority. Making his defense from tranquility point of view, the paramount chief was of the view that most conflicts and other forms of chieftaincy disputes which is now crippling some parts of the country could be attributed to false accusations made against some chiefs.
In his reaction to the allegation that the Seikwa traditional council had been a militating factor over the delay of the Badu-Nsawkaw road which had already been awarded on contract, he nodded his head, saying there is no iota of truth in it and must be seen as such by all, irrespective of one’s social affiliation with the Krontihene. ‘How could I do such a thing, after all am I not in the same district? , rather I had played a leading role concerning the Badu-Nsawkaw road project’ he continued. He talked about his countless meetings with feeder road authorities in an attempt to discuss with them the deplorable nature of the Badu - Nsawkaw road.
Nana Gyimah contended that Seikwa is one of the few traditional areas in the region that is always behind peace and stability and under no circumstance would it beat war drum as the latter is accusing it of. He however mentioned that the growing runour peddling around by the Krontihene that, the Seikwa traditional council was one of the towns that opposed Badu’s quest to be named as the capital of the newly created Tain district which now has Nsawkaw as her seat is a total fallacy which cannot be substantiated.
