Mampong (Ash), March 9, GNA - The Sekyere West District Assembly (SWDA) has presented a cheque of Six million cedis to the teaching staff of Saint Monica's Senior Secondary School (SSS) at Asante Mampong in recognition of the school's impressive performance in the 2003 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE).

Presenting the cheque, Mr Thomas Edward Atakorah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) promised the assembly's determination to furnish the staff room should the school move from its present 11th position in last year's (SSSCE) to the top 10 in this year's examination.

To achieve this, the DCE urged the school to put behind its current noble achievement and press forward towards the mark of capturing the first position and sustaining it in the years ahead.

Mr Atakorah who viewed this great feat as a hallmark of dedicated and committed service on the part of teachers and students amidst high discipline implored the staff not to relent their effort. Mrs Dorothy Ama Mansa Ofei, the Headmistress of the school who received the cheque, thanked the assembly for its magnanimity. She accepted the challenge thrown by the assembly to the school to endeavour to be among the Top 10 schools in the 2004 examination.
