Akwatia (E/R), Sept. 12, GNA- Bamenase, a village near Akwatia in the Eastern Region with a population of about 1,000 is to go into large-scale snail and fish farming.
The village is noted for cassava production and the women there are producing in large scale gari with equipment donated by the Ministry for Women and Children's Affairs.
As part of his working visit to Akwatia, the Eastern Regional Minister, Dr Francis Osafo-Mensah presented 12 boxes designed for the production of snail to the people of the area.
The boxes valued at 7.5 million cedis were donated by the Clark University of the United States and Ghana Organisation of Volunteer Associations (GOVA), an NGO.
Dr Osafo-Mensah said the projects were meant to alleviate poverty and improve the quality of life of the people.
