Seminar for 150 proprietors and school heads ends

Winneba (C/R), Oct. 29, GNA - The Awutu-Effutu-Senya district directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has held a day's capacity building seminar for 150 proprietors and heads of private schools in the district.

The district director of education, Mrs. Helena Arkoh, in an address read for her, advised them to make their fees very moderate so that parents would continue to enrol their children in their school. She suggested that BECE registration fees should not be more 63,000 cedis and asked them to raise the standard of their school by ensuring that all the necessary teaching and learning materials were available. Mrs. Arkoh called for effective supervision to ensure that teacher/pupil contact or instructional hours are fully utilized. The district co-ordinator of private schools, Mrs. Comfort Larson Korsah, appealed to the heads to return their completed logistics forms to the GES office to enable them receive materials from the office. According to her, only 50 out of the 150 heads had returned their forms to the GES.

Miss Gift Brebu, officer in-charge of Guidance and Counselling, urged them to have school health education programme officers that would ensure that the pupils would live well at school.
