Saltpond Aug 25, GNA - A Deputy Minister for Information, Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has called on workers to work diligently and to accept responsibility for their actions.
He said uncommitted workers always tried to shift blame when called upon to give account of their service.
Mr Asamoah Boateng made the call at a send off get-together organized at Saltpond for Mr Isaac Bart-Addison, Mfantseman District Director of Education, who has started his retirement after 36 years service. He commended Mr Bart Addision for reaching the retiring age and was going to rest at home peacefully to enjoy his benefits. The Deputy Minister announced plans to rehabilitate roads in Saltpond, Mankessin and Anomabo.
Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, District Chief Executive, called on Ghanaians to regard education as a community responsibility and not that of the parents only.
The DCE called for the establishment of education endowment funds to support the brilliant but needy children.
The DCE praised the outgoing District Director for the able manner he handled the District Education Directorate and appealed to the staff not to reverse the gains he had made to enhance quality education. Mr Quainoo-Arthur said the government had decided to take over the payment of salaries of teachers of kindergartens as from the next academic year.
Mr Bart-Addison noted that it was only through education that Ghanaians could come out of the poverty circle and urged parents to invest in the education of their children.
He commended the District Assembly for supporting education and urged it to extend the same support to his successor. A number of gifts were presented to the out going Director.
