Kwame Danso (B/A) Sept. 13, GNA - Poor roads have retarded the social and economic development of the Sene District, Mr. Dominic Napare, the District Chief Executive, has said.
He said bad feeder roads, besides other problems, were a major challenge hampering the economic growth of communities in the district. Mr. Napare said this after inspecting some development projects in the district.
He said the Sene District was handicapped in socio-economic development but added the social democratic ideology of the government was helping to ameliorate the situation.
Mr Napare said the District Assembly had since January 2009 undertaken a number of developmental projects with funding from the District Assembly Common Fund, Community-Based Rural Development Project, Ghana Education Trust Fund, District Development Facility and Danish International Development Agency.
The projects range from health, education, local government, electrification, water and sanitation facilities in Kwame Danso, Kajaji, Bantama, Kanto, Bassa, Asuoso, Lemu, Deiffour-Battor, Davakope and Bodinka.
Mr. Napare said some of the government's social interventions were either delayed or were not getting to the people because of bad feeder roads.
He said the Assembly had procured a grader to reshape the feeder roads. Thirty-eight persons and 10 master trainers have passed out under the dressmaking module of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP).
Mr. Mohammed Muntari Mustawu, Shaibu district coordinator, told newsmen that the Programme was the second phase of the dressmaking module for 20 master trainers and 110 trainees.
Under the hairdressing module, 50 trainees and 12 master-trainers, all females, are under training, he said, and added that those who had already passed out were each given tools to set up their businesses.
