Senior High Schools in UE receive vehicles

Mr. Mark Woyongo, Upper East Regional Minister, on Monday presented four buses and five pickup vehicles to selected Senior High Schools (SHS) in the region to promote effective teaching and learning.

The vehicles were to enhance effective monitoring and supervision in the schools and to provide a trouble-free transportation system for students and teachers.

Presenting the vehicles, Mr Woyongo noted that the presentation formed part of government’s intervention towards the promotion of quality and effective educational system in the region.

He said the vehicles would serve as means of transportation to students and teachers who lived at the outskirt of town and ultimately facilitate teaching and learning in the schools.

“In the absence of pickups in boarding schools, these vehicles could be used to convey foods items to the schools for students to have maximum benefits,” he said.

He appealed to the heads of the beneficiary schools to use the vehicles to enhance their work and exercise strict supervision of the vehicles, calling on the drivers to develop the culture of maintenance to prolong their lifespan.

Mr. Paul Apanga, Regional Director of Education, who received the vehicles, was appreciative of government’s efforts to supporting the educational sector, saying it had come at the right time since it would impact positively on the delivery of quality education in the region.

The selected beneficiary schools include the Navrongo SHS, Fumbisi SHS, Zamse SHS, Bolgatanga Girls SHS, Chiana SHS, Notre Dame SHS, Bawku SHS and St. John’s Integrated Senior High and Technical School.
