Senya-Beraku (C/R), Aug. 7, GNA - The chiefs and people of Senya-Breku in the Central Region have commended the government for improving the roads network in the area and appealed for the upgrading of the water supply and electricity systems.

These, they said would help to fulfil government's promise some six years ago to establish a cold storage facility in the area. Addressing members of the "Akomasi" festival planning committee at Senya-Breku at the weekend, Mr Kwame Onasis Anderson, Chairman of the Senya-Breku Urban Council said the chiefs and people had noted with great admiration, efforts by the NPP administration to improve roads leading to the traditional capital from Akotsi, through Gomoa-Ojobi and others linking Senya-Breku with various nearby communities. He said it was the prayer of the people that the on-going road projects would be completed before the end of the year, to give the area a befitting facelift.

Mr Anderson expressed regret, however, that serious attention had not been given to the "age long" water scarcity and the problem of the lack of a cold storage facility in the area.

He gave an assurance that the chiefs and people would celebrate their annual "Akomasi" festival from August 17 to 21, this year to re-launch a seven-year development plan despite the acute water problem facing the area and announced that Vice President Aliu Mahama would be the guest of honour.

Neenyi Kwamena Mortey VI, Chief Fisherman and Chairman of the festival planning committee appealed to citizens resident outside to visit home during the celebrations and contribute towards the development of the area.
