Alhaji Alhassan Imoro, Executive Director of the Ghana National Service Scheme (GNSS) has alerted Service Personnel for the 2014/2015 service year to be wary of the activities of imposters defrauding prospective service personnel on the pretext of assisting them to change their service postings.
He said there were clear processes for applying for a change of posting that did not involve financial cost.
He therefore advised that those who desired change in their posting should follow the required process for effecting change.
Alhaji Imoro gave the advice on Monday at the official release of the 2014/2015 national service postings in Accra.
A total of 71,189 personnel have been deployed across the country to provide essential services to areas of government’s priority, with majority of the postings going to shore up the quality of teaching and learning in the educational sector.
Personnel have been committed to areas such as agriculture, health, local governance, security and co-operatives. Others have also been assigned to the areas of research, survey, physical planning, civil engineering, rural industries, environment, energy as well as fields that the scheme may deem appropriate.
Alhaji Imoro also pointed out that through constant consultations with the Ministry of Education and the Polytechnics Students Association, the Scheme decided to deploy graduates from Polytechnics who were unable to write their final exams due to the three months strike action of lecturers.
Personnel in this category would however be required to go back to school to write their examination, urging user agencies to release such personnel for their exams when the time is due.
Alhaji Imoro said although the Scheme faced the perennial challenge of accommodating personnel posted to rural areas, service persons and their parents should adopt a positive attitude towards the deployment and consider it a selfless service to the country.
